Paul Klee (1879-1940) was a Swiss-born German artist. Art movements such as expressionism, cubism, and surrealism influenced his highly individual style. Klee was skilled at manipulating color and was a close friend of Kandinsky. He died in 1940 at age sixty and left around 9000 works of art.
